Screen Rant: What would you say has been the biggest change for Kristi in From season 2 compared to season one?

Chloe Van Landschoot: I think we're really starting to see Kristi's humanity. I think in season 1, we really established that she keeps her cards close, she's very proficient at her job, she takes it very seriously, and she has a big sense of responsibility to the town.

But in season 2, we really start to see who she is as a human, how she navigates relationships, how she navigates conflict with another person outside the role of a doctor. I think after so much of the suppression she did in season 1, I think we start to see that she's kind of uncool a lot of the time in terms of navigating conflict. When you don't have the doctor element anymore, she gets a little bit flustered and confused and totally human, and I think that's been the big shift for her. Especially having Marielle there, she's forced to really confront everything that she's tucked away for a really long time, and it starts to bubble up and surface, and she starts to lose it a bit.

With Kristi being separated from her fiancée Marielle early on, how would you say that has affected her from where she began as the show dives more into her humanity?

Chloe Van Landschoot: Oh yeah, greatly. I mean, she's just at the cusp of considering that she's going to see her again, and then she's there, and it totally flips Kristi's world upside down. She doesn't even think this is humanly possible. And there are so many complex feelings, terror, relief, deep love, frustration, fear, all of it combined, and she doesn't quite know what to do with any one of it, because Kristi's constantly being pulled in many, many directions. This season is just one crisis after another. There's no opportunity for these people to sit down and talk, and we see Kristi constantly have to choose between her duty and her heart as the season goes on, and it's relentless for her. It gets to a point where how much more can you handle as a human being? We get to see her start to unravel in that way.

What would you say have been some of your favorite elements of Kristi's story in From season 2?

Chloe Van Landschoot: I really appreciated visiting more of her humanity and less of who she is as a doctor. I think Marielle really holds a light to that and causes Kristi to really reflect on how much she's changed, what's stayed and what's remained, and what's kind of transformed as well. I think when someone holds a mirror up to you like that, you're really forced to reflect, but again, this season is so fast, there's not a whole lot of time for deep reflection! But it definitely takes a toll on her emotionally, and we see as the season progresses, it's just building and building and building until she's on the brink.

Would you say the progression in From season two has accelerated a lot in terms of Kristi's story?

Chloe Van Landschoot: Oh, totally. It's escalation that's kind of the word that's been thrown around. It's just one thing after the other, one thing getting put on top of the other, nothing's getting really solved quite yet, it's just stacked and stacked and stacked, and you just see these characters feel the weight of it all, and at what point are they going to break, because you can only do that for so long before you crumble. But at the same time, it's such an interesting reflection on resilience and how much can you take, as well.

What do you think will be some of the elements of Kristi's story in From season 2 that will resonate with viewers the most?

Chloe Van Landschoot: I think watching this pressure cooker start to slowly seep is quite interesting. I think the audience sees how much she's responsible for how much people rely on her, and how internally guilty Kristi also feels if something goes wrong, and how much responsibility that she takes on, as well. And yeah, watching her have to make decisions between her duty to the town and her heart as well, and that tension that happens when she's kind of forced to make some choices at points.

I think Kenny and Mariel and a lot of people ask me about choosing, and there's no time to choose. Those relationships are about looking at three people, one from the past, and one from the present, and what they mean to each other and what type of mirror they are for one another.
