I discussed the mid-game progression in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) and received a lot of engagement and questions about how to efficiently move between tiers. So, I’ve compiled a list of three money-making methods at each stage of the game that I think will help you progress to the next tier.

Establishing the Basics
Before we start, remember that you don’t have to follow these specific money makers, nor do you need to choose the most efficient method. The joy of OSRS lies in its flexibility. Feel free to mix things up and explore different methods that you find enjoyable. Remember, OSRS gold isn’t everything; it’s about enjoying your journey and making it your own.
Tier 1: Beginner
our: Crushing Bird’s Nests
Surprisingly, one of the best money-makers at the beginner level is crushing bird’s nests. This method can yield up to 1.2 million GP per hour with a click-intensive approach. Even as an AFK method, it can still generate about 460k profit per hour. The only requirement is some starter capital, which you can easily get from the Stronghold of Security.
Most Consistent: Making Pyre Logs
Creating pyre logs, especially Redwood pyre logs, can be very profitable. This method involves slow buying and selling to maximize profits. You can make around 1 million GP per hour with no significant requirements, making it an excellent option for consistent money.
Most AFK: Last Man Standing (LMS)
Even if you’re not great at PvP, LMS can be a surprisingly effective money-maker due to the number of bots in the game. With one point worth about 32k GP, you can make decent cash without needing any starting capital. Aiming for 15 to 25 points per hour can net you between 480k to 800k GP per hour.
For free-to-play players, methods like casting Bones to Bananas, grinding chocolate bars, and alching profitable items can also be lucrative.
Tier 2: Adventurer
Best GP per Hour: Zulrah
Zulrah remains a top-tier money maker, offering around 1.2 to 1.5 million GP per hour with a simple four-way switch setup. It’s a bit challenging to learn but well worth the effort once mastered.
Most Consistent: Barrows
Barrows’s runs are an excellent consistent money-maker, especially with the Morytania Hard Diary completed. Each run can yield about 78k GP, allowing you to make around 650k GP per hour.
Most AFK: Gargoyles
For those seeking a less intensive method, Gargoyles are perfect. With a whip or a fang, you can achieve about 620k profit per hour. Using a ring of wealth and a plugin to highlight stackables will make this method even more efficient.
Another great consistent method at this tier is tanning leather using the Lunar spell. With the right setup, you can make around 1.4 million GP per hour.
Tier 3: Hero
Best GP per Hour: Wilderness Bosses
Killing Wilderness bosses like Venenatis can yield up to 7.1 million GP per hour. Although it’s risky, the potential rewards far outweigh the losses, making it a top choice for high-profit activities.
Most AFK: Viable Sentinels
If you prefer AFK methods, Viable Sentinels offers around 500k to 600k profit per hour with minimal effort. This method also provides decent training XP, making it doubly beneficial.
Most Consistent: Bone and Essence Running
Bone running and essence running, as seen in speedruns, can be very lucrative. Joining the respective Discord communities can help you make around 7 to 8 million GP per hour once you become proficient.
Tier 4: Legend
Best GP per Hour: Tombs of Amascut (TOA) Experts
High-invocation TOA runs can yield around 7 to 8 million GP per hour, with purples dropping approximately every 10 runs. This method is intensive but highly rewarding.
Most AFK: Rune Dragons
Rune Dragons remain an excellent AFK money-making method, generating about 1.6 million GP per hour with decent gear. They provide a steady profit with minimal attention required.
Most Consistent: Vorkath
Vorkath consistently offers around 3 million GP per hour with a Dragon Hunter Lance or crossbow. The money comes in reliably, making it a solid choice for consistent profits.
Tier 5: Veteran
Best GP per Hour: Desert Treasure II Bosses
While Wilderness bosses remain highly profitable, Desert Treasure II bosses are also worth considering. The veteran tier opens up almost all PvM content, allows you to explore various high-effort, high-reward activities.
Most AFK: Rune Dragons (Again)
Rune Dragons continues to be an AFK favorite. At this level, consider using an alt to maximize your efficiency and profits while performing other AFK activities.
Most Consistent: Revenants
Revenants in the Wilderness can yield over 7 million GP per hour with the right setup. Despite being a bit dull, it offers a consistent money-making method with relatively low risk compared to Wilderness bosses.
Tier 6: PVM God
Best GP per Hour: Nex
Duoing Nex can net you an astounding 17 million GP per hour. It’s intensive but incredibly lucrative for those willing to camp it.
Most AFK: Various Options
At this tier, you’re likely looking to avoid burnout. You can stick with Rune Dragons, try your hand at flipping, or any other AFK method from previous tiers.
Most Consistent: Phantom Muspah or Hydra
Phantom Muspah and Hydra are excellent consistent money-makers, depending on your gear and stats. They provide reliable profits with decent engagement.
Tier 7: Max Cash
At this stage, you probably have all the items you need and are looking to maximize your bank. Consider flipping or any other high-effort method to maintain your wealth. Even a 1% ROI on a 10 billion bank can result in significant profits.
